Over the years I have been learning, reading and following the FIRE movement. For those of you who are new to the term it stands for Financial Independence (FI) and Retire Early (RE).
As a student and later as a finance professional I realized getting good grades or being first in class had little co-relation to financial success of a person. This is my journey of personal financial planning and helping out everyone along the way on making smart money moves to be financially independent and retire early.
Don’t get me wrong retire early doesn’t mean quitting the boring 9-5 and staying at home. It means doing what ever you like and find purpose (whether paid or not) opposed to being paid for doing something you aren’t entirely fond of.
Majority of personal financial planning and FIRE blogs are catering to the western world. Most of the products and theories discussed cannot be applied to countries like Sri Lanka as we have very different economic conditions and financial products. My idea is to share my thoughts and discuss the options available for Sri Lankan’s. Let’s keep it simple and have fun along the way.
As someone wise once told me “The joy is in the journey”.
